Abstract

Now a day the rural economy is not based solely on agriculture but relies on a diverse array of activities and employment opportunities. This aspect is taken account of by recent evolution of the concept of NEREGA as survival strategies of rural employment and stabilizes their income. Study of impact analysis of the government programs participation on livelihood conditions of the people is very much common in social sciences, for example, impact analysis of the participation in NGEGA program. Usually in the course of these impacts analysis we assure that the participation of a particular person is independent. However, in practice the decision to participate in a particular program may be influenced by some unobservable factors we say that there exists problem. NREGA that is holistic in nature constitute substantial amount of attention in the recent literature and socio-economic discourse in the mind of the researchers. In this paper attempts is made to explore the possibilities of Employment in Rural areas w.r.t. to planning period as framed by Government of India. This paper focus on the plan period and its impact on Rural development w.r.t employment. The paper appreciates the sweet narratives of NREGA or program even though there may be short comings. Undoubtedly, the NREGA has the potential to make the greatest good of all rural masses in India.
