Abstract

This paper titled “Role of Teachers in the Teaching of Writing at the School Level” begins with an introduction on the importance of all the four language learning skills, namely Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW) with the main focus on Writing, moves with an analytical study on the mismatch between the score secured by students of Std X and XI and their real proficiency level in written communication and highlights the pivotal roles of teachers of English in the teaching of writing at school levels. The paper brings out the main factors behind the deficient knowledge of school students in written communication. The paper ends with suggestions for promoting the role of teachers in the teaching of writing to school students.
