The present research paper focuses on the relationship of emotional suffocation and interpersonal behavior in organizations. Interpersonal relationship is the fuel of any organization and a good relationship depends upon the bounding amongst its employees. If the employees have negative, blocked or buried emotions within them, it will resort to unhealthy and unclear communication. Therefore, ultimately emotional suffocation will lead towards unproductive work environment with more of dysfunctional conflicts.
Emotions provide a breath to the organization because it is the right expression of emotions at the right time that will determine whether the communication and relationships remain congenial for work. But if the work environment gets populated with buried emotions, it will create suffocation in the environment. Employees will suffocate if the work environment is polluted due to adverse conditions that are unhealthy, lack in appropriate communication with no proper outlet or ventilation of these blocked negative emotions, their suffocation will be reflected in their work as well as their formal relationships. The result will be loss of productivity at all levels. Therefore, there is a need to explore different ways to ventilate these blocked emotions that effect interpersonal relationships to avoid any spillover effects at work and provide a good work environment that enhances productivity with the systematic release of this unhealthy emotional blockage. Causes, consequences and ventilation of these blocked emotions are discussed to systematically approach this problem.
