Spatial trends and pattern of landslides in the hill state Himachal Pradesh

A disaster may be natural or human being induced hazard, resulting in an event of extensive magnitude causing significant physical damage or destruction, loss of life, or drastic change to the environment. Among various hazards landslides are the common in the hilly terrain of Himalayas which is the major natural calamities having large influence and sturdy destroys leading to remarkable fiscal loss every year for the society. Himalayas witness each year number of landslides both small and large, mainly in the post monsoon period. All the divisions of the Himalayas from outer to Higher Himalayas are facing landslides which occur without any prior indication. However, the magnitude of the impact of the hazard can be minimized if its probability is recognized before any type of land development activity. The presented study focused on the spatial and temporal perspective of the landslides in Himachal Pradesh.
