Abstract

This paper presents an exploratory review of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issue currently being publicly addressed by the companies to make themselves identified by the community. The fundamental idea of CSR is that business corporations have an obligation to contribute to the welfare of the society and to work for social betterment in return for the benefits it receives from the society

More generally the paper offers some reflections on the current CR initiatives being pursued by DRB-HICOM group of companies. DRB-HICOM‘s commitment to corporate responsibility (CR) focuses on the sustainability and good governance. The group's CR framework is built on four strategic dimensions namely workplace, community, marketplace and environment.

The study concludes that Group mainly focuses upon three strategic core themes, youth development and education, socio-economic development and quality of life. The Group‘s system is so geared that it moves towards the goal of having a positive impact on society while achieving success.
