Reading is often neglected by the students. The majority of the learners read text books, classroom notes, printed material and reproduce the same during examinations. According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, “Reading is the single most important skill necessary for a happy, productive and successful life”.
Different strategies are adopted to improve reading skills like previewing, predicting, skimming, scanning, and paraphrasing. These techniques are adopted in the classroom teaching to make a student an effective reader. However, apart from traditional mode of teaching, the present day multimedia technology has shown a new dimension in the learning of reading skills. The present paper focuses on developing reading skills using multimedia technology with special reference to English language software, Study Skills Success (SSS).
