The role of a teacher in modern society has proved an inexhaustible subject for inaugural lectures. There are virtually no empirical studies on the contemporary role of teachers. Today, the teacher arrives at a conception of his necessary role through his own experience as a pupil, his experience at the job, his reading habits, exchange of views and his professional training. Thus, the importance of a teacher as an architect of future generations also demands that only the competent members of our intelligentsia be allowed to qualify for this noble profession as human values truly begins and ends with the teacher. Therefore, a teacher should be a missionary, a mentor, a reformer, a guide and a tutor, so that he can train the students in virtues and graces. A teacher who lacks energy, enthusiasm and character is a disgrace to profession.
