A study of reasoning ability and home environment among class VIII students

The present study aims at investigating reasoning ability and home environment among class VIII students. The sample was drawn from ten private and government secondary schools of Aligarh district India. The sample consisted of 500 students (250 girls and 250 boys) studying in class VIII. Normative survey method was used. Investigator applied the tool constructed and validated by Sadhana Bhatnagar (1986) to assess the reasoning ability, and Home environment inventory by Dr. Karuna Shankar Mishra was used to assess the quality of home environment. Mean, SD and t test were calculated to analyse the data, and Pearson's coefficient of correlation have been adopted to find out the relationship between reasoning ability and home environment. The results of this research study indicate significant variation between the two groups.
