Purpose of this paper is to analyse the existing language learning strategies and the problems of L2 learner especially Tamil speaking students. It differentiates language learning strategies, learner strategies, communication strategies and learning styles. The classification of existing taxonomies and concerns were discussed with the view to suggest strategies for developing language learning skills. Finally the paper suggest the taxonomy for L2 learner considering language learning scenario.
