Women in rural production process contribution crucial but recognition translucent

Prosperity and growth of a nation is measured by the statues and development of its women as they not only constitute half of its population, but also influence the growth of the remaining half of the population. Since time immemorial women are found to be involved in rural production process in addition to their role responsibility of managing the homes. The present studies revealed that women in India, since time immemorial have made significant contribution in rural production process. They contribute 34.22 percent as cultivator, 55.50 per cent as farm labourer, 47.40 percent in Animal husbandry, 17.80 per cent in fisheries, 10.25 percent in poultry, 73.40 per cent in primary agroprocessing, 47.65 per cent in Horticulture, 39.75 per cent in decision making in rural production process. This study examined the role of women in rural Production process and concluded that their roles are crucial but recognition is translucent to recognize the role of women in rural production process.
