Abstract

In India, Integrated Watershed Management has developed in recent years for the development of degraded land and vegetation. The Integrated watershed development depends upon the physical characteristics of the area. In this research work, an effort has been made to identify the precise physical characteristics of sub-watershed with the most advanced technique; GIS and Remote sensing. To analysis these characteristics Cartosat II, Survey of India toposheets, ASTER DEM 30 m have been used. The study shows that GIS and Remote sensing are time consuming and precise application to provide rapid and reliable data within a given time framework.

It finds out, that there is a need to focus on check dam and soil conservation. The physical characteristic shows that sub watershed is most vulnerable for flash flood, landslide and deforestation. Another one sector is open land on which local people have to motivate for proper utilization.
