Abstract

INDIA is known for its family cultures and customs. In maintaining and upgrading these customs and cultures, women play a prominent role. The different forms of family structure support or hinder women employees’ career growth in an organization. This study attempts to explain whether the family structure, family support contributes to the glass ceiling. It examines whether family structure and family support will help women employees to reduce the glass ceiling or act as a hurdle in their career growth. The study comprises of both primary and secondary data. The primary data is collected through a structured questionnaire from women employees working in select manufacturing companies in and around Mysore. A summary score based on the responses of the respondents in manufacturing companies was computed, and the inferences were drawn by using appropriate statistical tools.
