Ink-Bleed through degraded document images: a survey

The main objective of this paper is to study about Historical documents which deals with the degradation of paper due to paper aging, background variation due to noise, uneven illumination or dark spots and classification of loss of textual information in degraded documents like light exposure which causes fading of text or ink flaking, Degradation of the writing medium i.e. obscured or missing text caused due to the presence of mould, parasites, dampness or brittleness in the medium, When ink has seeped through back side or a page to front causes bleed-through interference, whenever we digitise our document it may introduce some noise artifacts which may cause degradation to the textual information. There are many degraded but historically-important old manuscripts and documents distributed across libraries and archives around the world. Due to passage of time ink of back side starts to interfere with the ink of front side which hampers the readability of documents. But due to the importance of such documents it is important to restore such documents.
