Abstract

The article attempts to examine the status of the women's literature in Gujarati besides laying emphasis on the importance of having literature as a major platform for the women of Gujarat to voice their issues and concerns in the society. Observations found during the study are supported by various reasons and some fundamental questions about the status have been also discussed in the article. The evolution of women's literature in Gujarati has been also sketched along with the outline of the history of its progression. The factors influencing the trends of writing of the said literature are also described in the article. The need of the research and other related activities must take place in the given area of literature is also discussed in the article. Detailed list of the contributors in the field is included in the article for further reading.
