Society begins with the family and concludes into Nation; women are the important element of a family and the nation as a whole. Economic Empowerment of Women is imperative for the holistic growth and development of a nation. Women in entrepreneurship have been largely neglected both in society in general and in the social sciences. This study focuses on various factors influencing women entrepreneurship and the problems faced by them. Incidental purposive sampling technique was used to identify 50 entrepreneurs form clothing & accessories and Food & beverages industries. The major findings were that financial necessity and an opportunity to vent out their creativity were the purpose of entrepreneurship which they set up by their own personal savings. Their families initially supported them in the idea of their business and in general management. Later they received help in marketing and financial management too. Te problems they faced were-lack of credit facilities, heavy interest rates, health problems and family conflicts too as they felt the dual role they had to play was very cumbersome. The government could provide them awareness sessions about the facilities available for them and also provide them interest free/low interest loans to them. NGOs could help them in marketing and sales. Dual role and health management awareness programmes would be beneficial for the women entrepreneurs. Women are known for their creativity. There is a massive amount of untapped potential lying in the women. To see India in a better economical position, this hidden potential would be of colossal use.
