The present study explicates the socio-economic profile of Aligarh district. It is located 126 kilometers from Delhi and bounded by Bulandshahar District in the north, Mathura in the west. It is divided into five Tehsils and twelve community development blocks and the total geographical area of the district is 3700.4 square kilometer. According to the census of 2011, the total population of Aligarh district is 36, 73, 890 with the average density of 805 persons per square kilometer. Hindu is the dominant religion followed by Muslims and Hindi is the most spoken language of the district followed by Urdu. The sex ratio of Aligarh district is 856 females per thousand males. The district has 147 branches of nationalized banks, 64 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and 30 branches of other banks.
