Abstract

The Retail industry is moving towards a modern concept of retailing. The Indian retail industry has experienced high growth over the last decade with a noticeable shift towards organised retailing formats. The present Paper deals with the importance of human element in the corporate retail sector. In the novel economy, human capital is the foundation of value creation. India's twin growth engines of economic growth and demographic profile set it apart from other nations and present a compelling business case for global retailers looking to enter the market. The retail trade in India is highly fragmented in nature and it is often remarked that retail in India is nascent and mostly unorganized. Under the broad heading of social structure of organizations, experts of management, organizational behaviour, and other social scientists have identified many elements like communication, norms, roles, status, authority, attraction, cohesiveness, and interaction, episodic and continuous social relationships.
