National Food Security ACT-A Remedy For Kerala State

India is home to the largest number of hungry people in the world. Removal of malnutrition and hunger from the country is not only socially desirable but also necessary for improving, overall economic development, as healthy people contribute more to the economy with their relatively higher level of productivity and efficiency. Food production is inadequate in Kerala, where the trend has been dwindling paddy cultivation and the extension of cultivated area under cash crops. Some farmers in Kerala have switched to producing rubber. The National Food Security Act is a complex programme that could impact many aspects of Kerala's economy, environment and food security. Proper targeted implementation remains the key to achieving any significant impact on food security for Kerala's poor.
