The global scenario has undergone phenomenal transformation due to the revolutionary trend in Information technology. A metamorphic change is also currently witnessed The Indian women, who were mostly found in a socially acceptable employment like teaching, nursing, banking, etc. in the past decades, are diverted now to participate in the Information Technology revolution. It has become a common phenomenon that majority of the IT employees, especially women, are working harder and longer ever before. As a consequence, they find it difficult to achieve work life balance. Work and family life have always been interdependent, but the increased employment of mothers, rising family hours of work and the trend toward long work hours for some and inadequate family income for others have rendered this interdependence both more visible and more problematic. The new corporate environment is characterized by willful and ambiguous persuasions and increasing productivity. As a result of this, the boundaries between work and home tend to get blurred. Work life imbalance is expected to hinder organizational productivity and therefore organizations try to emphasize on the various ways and means to strike a proper balance between work and life. Since the metros are bundled with various IT organizations that contribute a major share to the growth of the Indian economy, software organizations are in a situation to focus on various ways and means to find out whether the employees have a proper work life balance. It is in this scenario the study has been conducted to find out the perception of women IT professionals towards work life balance in metropolitan cities in India. The research design adopted for this study is descriptive and the method adopted is convenience sampling. The sample size is confined to 110 women IT professionals. Data are collected using both primary and secondary data. The study emphasizes that though IT Organizations render special emphasis on helping their women professionals to maintain a healthy work life balance, some measures need to be given special attention which in turn will help them to accomplish enhanced productivity of the organization through job satisfaction which is achieved by effective work life balance.
