“Make in India”-A Conceptual View

Abstract

India, a versatile country is now on its journey to enter the door of a developed economy in coming decades. There are many milestones in its path and “MAKE IN INDIA” is one of them. Make in India was launched in September 2014 to rigour the country's manufacturing sector by making India an integral part of the global supply chain. The present paper covers aims and objectives of the “Make in India” campaign, steps taken by the government on ground to make the initiative a reality. The study observes that many efforts have been done to prepare the foundation of the mission and much-much is remaining to give it a concrete shape. The major findings constitutes that the position and image of India on global front has improved many folds with the result of which India has been successful in recording its name in the list of major investment avenues of the world. The paper concludes that what shape “Make in India” will take is still to see in the years to come. Finally, suggestions are made to achieve the anticipatory remaining results.
