Delinquency is the symptom of emotional immaturity leading to socially unacceptable or reprehensible behaviour. It is one of the most common problems reported among the post-puberty or early adolescent children. There is an increase in the reported cases of delinquency, and these behaviours either go unnoticed or are legally intervened when noticed. Children who get into trouble are children who often have multiple needs and difficulties. These children can be helped through proper care of these needs, trained guidance in mental emotional and social potentialities, motivation, monitoring and support. Usually delinquent children are sent to children's home (earlier called juvenile home). But a specific intervention or behaviour modifications are not being received there effectively. Moreover the psychological and situational causal factors of delinquent behaviour are unaffected when a person goes to and come back from children's home. Without positive and constructive intervention a good number of children with delinquent behaviour become criminals in their later life and they stand outside mainstream society. This paper tried to study the present methods of counseling for delinquents. The study used interview reports of counselors who had chances to counsel delinquent behaviour. This paper also includes scope and challenges of delinquent intervention.
