Abstract

We should provide our secondary school students to study the course content through the different innovative learning material with the addition of textbooks. As the secondary education commission of India recommended that one single textbook should not be provide for any one subject. So another aspect of individualize instruction as modular approach can be a better option for the teachers to follow commission's recommendation. Teachers or authors can develop and use modules to facilitate our secondary school students. With this research paper, researcher wants to focus on the importance and practicability of modular approach; after studying the effect of modular method of teaching in comparison of traditional teaching method on achievement in social science. Sample of 159 students consisted of private secondary schools of Agra district, UP Board, India. Randomized pre-test post-test control group design was used for this study. Study found that modular teaching method was better than the traditional teaching method. So this method can play better role to improve students’ learning capacity as well as to facilitate them to read this self learning material besides the book.
