Abstract

India has always been patriarchal in its culture and treats its women folks as a delicate folk to be protected and to be kept away from the limelight. Women in India have always been regarded as a homemaker who home cares and child bears They are also involved in elder-care, and also are involved in the home-activities like cooking, washing, etc. But during the turn of the century, there has been a gradual, if not, slow drastic change in the status of women due to governmental support through social legislation. Women have today risen from the slumber of household chores and are making inroads to being independent. And many such women who have ventured into entrepreneurship have yet to balance family and social family commitments. Because of which they find it difficult to strive to make their business grow and sustain. As many are still closeted in house-chores they are unable to seek out to others to build their business due to nil network connections opportunities. The traditional women in India are barred from social spheres of lives and are basically considered a homemaker.

In this context, this case study talks about a woman social entrepreneur in Bengaluru1, who has encouraged other women entrepreneurs towards success and scalability by providing networking opportunities. The protagonist of this case study is Manik Ajay Patwardhan-a woman who integrates the activities of many other women entrepreneurs. Manik has nurtured many women to break out from the clutches of family commitment without compromising family ties; encouraged them to grow to face challenges and create success in their entrepreneurial ventures. Manik expects no return in exchange-being selfless & balances family, personal interests into social contribution. This unique case of social entrepreneurship creating and generating demand market for women economic entrepreneurs. -providing endless possibilities to other women.
