Indian economy is in need of a device to boost employment opportunities, raise income and its standard of living and to bring about a more balanced and integrated economy. Handicraft sector is one of the best solutions for achieving these goals. Our handicraft products are fast becoming major lifestyle statements and have secured a place for India in the lives of millions across the world. For a growing number of people at home and abroad, the exquisiteness and exclusivity of the handmade is working as a powerful lure against the monotony of the mass produced, opening up huge possibilities of market expansion. This study is concerned to review the existing work environment and employee satisfaction in the handicraft units and also to analyse the effect of various biographic characteristics of these employees exhibits which affect their person environment fit. The sample size is 200 Respondents/employees drawn from different locations’ based on Primary data with “Random Sampling” and “Convenience Sampling” method. After the collection of data through the questionnaire and direct personal Investigation, data are analyzed with the help percentage, average, range, standard deviation, two-way tables and chi-square analysis. The study reveals that there are several issues that need attention both in form of policy intervention and ground level implementation. These issues are dependable and affordable sources of finance for the artisans, effective workplace, skill up gradation, bringing in new and useful technology and innovations in designs.
