In the present study, an attempt has been made to examine the burnout among secondary school teachers in relation to personal stress and some demographic variables i.e. locality and gender. Burnout was treated as dependent variable whereas personal stress (High & Low), locality (Rural & Urban) and gender (Male & Female) were treated as independent variables. In the present study, Descriptive survey method was employed. Multi stage-random sampling technique was used to select the sample of 400 secondary school teachers. Teachers’ Burnout scale by Gupta and Rani (2017) [10] and Personal Stress Source Inventory by Singh, Singh and Singh (2011)[19] were used to collect the data. The obtained data were analyzed using Three Way ANOVA with 2×2×2 factorial design. Levene's Test of Homogeneity of Variance was also applied to test the assumption of homogeneity of variance for ANOVA. Main effect of personal stress and gender was found significant whereas locality had no significant effect on burnout among teachers. Interaction effects of personal stress and locality was found insignificant whereas interaction effects of locality and gender; personal stress and gender were found significant on burnout among teachers. Triple Interaction effect of personal stress, locality and gender on burnout among secondary school teachers was reported to be significant. Hence, apart from organizing yoga classes and sports activities, Employee Assistance Programs or Counseling Services should be adopted by the schools regularly to reduce the level of stress among school teachers.
