A study on the training and development programmes of teachers of arts and science colleges in Chennai city

Abstract

This paper aims to study what extent training and development programmes create impact on teachers on various aspects such as subject understanding, class room management, teaching method, handling students and also to explore satisfaction level of the teacher and perception regarding quality of training and development programmes. The researcher has chosen arts and science colleges in Chennai city. The primary data are collected from the teachers through structured questionnaire. The researcher has used simple random sampling method for collecting data from 60 respondents. The study found that training and development programmes are helpful to the teacher on class room management practice, handling student and subject understanding and also provided with quality faculty and facility as per need of the teachers. However, the study recommended that to give importance to the least ranking aspects in training and development programmes.
