Gender dynamics and perceptions of school teachers towards leadership effectiveness of their school principals: A study

The purpose of this study was to examine if teachers perception towards leadership effectiveness of their higher secondary school principals were influenced by the gender of both the principals and the teachers for whom they lead. Descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. A survey was conducted in the selected higher secondary schools of Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh State in the session 2012–2013. In order to select the sample, stratified random sampling technique was used. Sample constitutes 68 school principals of selected schools and four teachers (02 male and 02 female) from each schools. Dr. Haseen Taj leadership effectiveness scale was used to measure the leadership effectiveness of higher secondary school principals. The collected data were statistically analyzed with the help of independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. The finding of present study reveals that teachers’ perception of leadership effectiveness of their higher secondary school principals were significantly influenced by the gender of both the principal and the teachers for whom they lead.
