Business organisations in this competitive era must provide supportive and attractive work environments to attract the human resources. Satisfied human resources are essential for the healthy operation of all other resources of the organisation. The aim of this research is to study the various demographic characteristics influencing the work environment and job satisfaction of dentists. Survey research method was used to collect the necessary primary data from the participants through the distribution of copies of questionnaire in this study. The questionnaire was administered to 320 dentists working in twelve private dental college hospitals in Tamil Nadu, India to establish their perception on the impact of work environment and job satisfaction witha response rate of 80%. The results of the study revealed that the senior professionals were satisfied with the prevailing conditions in the hospitals and that satisfaction level increases with age. When the working hours per day increased it had negative influence upon the respondents attitude towards the working conditions and career growth opportunities offered by the organizations and the satisfactory level decreased. The study indicated that the working environment affects the physical and psychological wellbeing of the human resources and also their attitude, morale, engagement and productivity.
