Rural tourism focuses on participating in rural lifestyle, culture, art and heritage at rural location, religion, there by favouring the local communities socially and economically. Pargana Kuthar is historically rich area and can promote heritage tourism but unfortunately no such efforts have taken yet. In this paper an attempt has made to explore the history and potential of Kotabal site for the development of rural tourism in Pargana Kuthar of South Kashmir, Anantnag (study area)1.
