Entrepreneurship is a major strategy for economic development of a country. It is a tool for promoting and supporting the economic ideas for faster development of a country. In Indian context, women entrepreneurship is a revolutionary concept as it is considered as a possible approach for the empowerment of the women. Women entrepreneurship encourages the women to have an independent decision, an independent identity and socio-economic power. The government of India initiated various schemes and projects to develop the women entrepreneurship. As an integral part of India, the women of North-East region also grab the opportunities of women entrepreneurship. There are many women entrepreneurs in North-East India who set the example of good entrepreneurship with their success stories. Women from North-East India have realized the potential resources of this region and have initiated various entrepreneurial activities in order to tap the natural resources of this region. In this paper, we try to highlights the various opportunities and prospects of women entrepreneurship in North-East India. And also attempt to focus the Government initiatives for the development of entrepreneurship among the North-Eastern women. This paper is purely based on secondary data which are collected from different secondary sources and explain this in a descriptive way. This study was carried out as the role of women entrepreneurs has gained significance in today's environment. Women, who succeed as entrepreneurs, are risk taking personalities
