The current study examined the relationship of perceived parenting style with the mental health of adolescents focusing on the meditational role of emotion regulation.200 adolescents of age 13–18 studying in different schools of three districts viz. Calicut, Malappuram and Thrissur was selected for the study. They were responded to Perceived Parenting Style Questionnaire (Nisha & Jayan), Mental Health Scale (Gireesan & Sam Sananda Raj) and Disturbances in Emotion Regulation Scale (Milu & Jayan). Correlation between the perceived parenting styles, difficulties in emotion regulation and mental health was carried out. The mediating effect of difficulties in emotion regulation on the relationship between perceived parenting styles and mental health was analysed. The results indicated that difficulties in emotion regulation has a mediating effect in the relationship of perceived parenting styles with mental health.
