Muslim women population that constitute about 12.16% of the state population and 48.24% to the total Muslim population in West Bengal can never be neglected. But, major part of them remains educationally, socially, politically and culturally backward. The identified educational institution related causes such as uneasy feeling in study with the students of other communities and male students, scarcity of suitable toilet, common room, library, equipment of games and sports, canteen for Muslim girl students, insufficient institutional infrastructure, less number of Muslim women employees, automatic choice for Madrasah education played an important role for educational backwardness of Muslim women in West Bengal. A survey has been carried out to find out the opinions of Muslim women towards these educational institutions related causes of educational backwardness of Muslim women in West Bengal. The paper also presents the various ways for removing educational institution related barriers for improvement of Muslim women education in West Bengal.
