Abstract

Derivatives trading has become an important economic activity all over the world. Commodity derivatives and financial derivatives are the two major classes of derivatives traded globally. A lot of trading in futures and options segment in Indian stock market has seen and the number of market participants increased phenomenal in a short period. This paper makes an attempt to examine the business growth of FO segment and CD segment of NSE which is the prominent exchanges amongst all emerging markets. This paper also makes an attempt to find whether there is significant or insignificant difference between turnover value of futures and options in FO & CD segment of NSE and whether there is strong or weak correlation between them. The paper consist of eight parts i.e., introduction, literature review, objectives, methodology, hypotheses, business growth profile of financial derivatives segment of NSE, testing of hypotheses and conclusion.
