Abstract

Financial Inclusion is prerequisite for delivering economic benefits to the disadvantaged people. In Indian context, delivering those economic benefits is important to eradicate inequality and poverty. Waqf Board in India is continuously working towards the social and economic development of Muslims through its contribution primarily in the areas of health, education and sheltering. In this process reaching the target and delivering the benefits is a huge challenge in a country like India. This research tries to understand the modus-operandi of Waqf Board and its present status. Attempts have been made to comprehend the Waqf administration process. This study is based on the premise that proper management of the Waqf is crucial in the present unwieldy and at times chaotic condition of the Waqf Management system in India. The Waqf management issues have been discussed here keeping an eye on the progressive debate that lies at the heart of the situation and also in the context of financial inclusion among Muslims.
