Importance of science has led to continuous efforts to develop scientific literacy and also to put in efforts to measure it. The validity and reliability of measuring instruments is often questioned and there always remains a need to develop valid instruments. Present study is Development and Validation of Interest Inventory in Science. Sample of study is students of Standard IX. Steps include-Identifying purpose, development of test items, pre pilot testing, Item analysis, selection of items and final inventory, reliability of inventory. Preliminary inventory consisted of 50 items and final inventory consisted of 42 items. Reliability of inventory was computed at 0.98 by Split half reliability. It is strong positive correlation therefore inventory has good reliability. Correlation computed by Spearman-Brown formula was 0.73. This is considered as high positive correlation therefore the inventory can be said to possess very good reliability. The advent of evidence based learning has given a much needed boost to the measurement and evaluation services. Thus the implication of this study lies in the fact that a validated Science Learning Interest Inventory will help to ensure the valid measurement of interest of the students in science.
