A study on India and central asia relations through the eye of energy politics

India being one among the leading global customers of energy has conjointly been exploring different sources of energy, including solar and wind power. However, the limited production and high costs of renewable energy forces India to still depend on fossil fuels, including oil and gas. As a result, Central Asia, with its significant energy resources, is an important region, whose location and geo-politics affects India's relations with Pakistan, China and other powers seeking influence there. With India projected to become ever more reliant on imported energy, reducing dependence on the Middle East and cultivating alternative sources of energy has become a vital concern. With this back drop this paper is an attempt to study using secondary data with descriptive in nature studies India's energy fortunes in the Central Asia region. Petro politics, China factor in Central Asia which influence on India's energy, economic and geo-politics. Multiple pipelines are reality in the region and the politics over it will continue. With the Middle East in seemingly permanent turmoil, the attention of the world is now shifting towards Russia and Central Asia. Besides fresh strategic and economic ties with Central Asia, an increased bilateral equation with Iran and India's membership to the SCO can enhance India's energy security goals by diversifying its energy wants from West Asia.
