Impact of IPR on Digital Environment

This paper aims at studying the role of digital library in protecting and preserving the intellectual writing (Intellectual property) from being stolen or plagiarised by less qualified and pseudo intellectuals. This paper describes what is property, intellectual property right, intellectual property right in the field of digital environment.. It also forecast about different types of intellectual property right like copyright, patent, trademark, trade secrets, utility model, geographical indication, industrial property rights. It describes different methods to protect copy in digital environment like watermarking, digital signature. Lastly it concludes that digitalization cannot give full security to an IP unless the custodian of the library is alert. No act is sufficed to protect IP from being misused. A librarian is after all a conscious point in humanising the society.
