Abstract

Service to the community, enhancing employees welfare, promoting religious conduct and philanthropic activities to down-trodden people are the social responsibility of any business in the world. Corporate Social Responsibility is no way a new approach today. In India, being a developing country, a concerted effort is being taken to maintain the standards of corporate social responsibility as per the norms of CSR committee. It is observed from the contemporary researchers that social and environmental programmes or welfare activities of companies inculcate the positive feelings in the minds of mass consumers. Several corporate enterprises give priority on CSR as they found a positive relationship between CSR and companies financial performance. Better financial performance of a company is the pave to promote enhanced the CSR activities. The researcher tried to rank few states of India as per their CSR performances and also showed a clear picture of the various companies who allocate their maximum income for the cause of social activities. This practice of allocating a sizeable income towards CSR activities makes them a leader in their respective sectors.
