Current study aims to measure the growth of District Central Co-operative Banks in Haryana and also to make a comparative study of growth of Nineteen District Central Co-operative Banks of Haryana state.
In this study, secondary data has been used which was obtained from the annual publication of the Reserve Bank of India related to the development banking, and from the annual reports of the cooperative banks. The period of the data was selected from 2005–06 to 2014–15. The growth parameters used in the study were mainly; share capital of the DCCBs, net profit, number of members, business per employee, credit deposit ratio, and total investment of the DCCBs. Data has been analysed using the Compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) and the t-test has been used for the comparison of growth of nineteen DCCBs of Haryana state.
It was found from the study that the share capital, number of members, investment and business per employee of the district central cooperative banks operating in Haryana state, have increased during last ten years while the credit deposit ratio of the banks and the net profits of the banks got declined during the period 2004–05 to 2014–15. Further, it was found that the growth rate of the share capital, business per employee and investment of the district central cooperative banks of Haryana were found to be significantly different while no significant difference was found in the growth rate of number of members, credit deposit ratio, and net profit/loss of the central district cooperative banks.
The study is limited to only one state, and Nineteen District Central Co-operative Banks of Haryana state. Only six major growth parameters have been discussed in this study, while the profitability, credit risk and liquidity parameters have not been studied.
