Women entrepreneurial activity is a dynamic, social and economic phenomenon in the worldwide. Entrepreneurial motivations are often defined as fitting into “push” or “pull” categories. To date, research has focused on the factors motivating men and women separately. Women would commonly engage in the topic of entrepreneurship less frequently than men, nevertheless when women do so, they normally do it out of a necessity rather than an opportunity. This study endeavored to identify the reasons why the women entrepreneurs become motivated and are compelled to establish business enterprises. This paper is focusing mainly on the women entrepreneurship development, factors affecting growth of women entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship career aspirations of educated women. The primary objective of this research paper is to investigate the various motivational factors (push & pull) that may influence women entrepreneurial spirit in Sultanate of Oman. The guiding research questions are: which factors are the most important for women to start a business in Oman; and which factors promote female entrepreneurship in Oman? This study makes use of the panel methodology approach to provide evidence about the main determinants of women entrepreneurship in the Oman economy. The paper examines the pull and push motives for the encouragement of women entrepreneurship in Oman. Moreover, a number of key policy measures are proposed to empower and improve women entrepreneurial initiatives. These initiatives may create a positive business environment that enables female entrepreneurs to take advantage of prospective market opportunities and overcome the existing obstacles.
