Impact of life style on family and marriage-A study of keralites software professionals in Bangaluru

Change is the law of nature. What is today shall be different tomorrow. The social structure is subject to incessant change. Family and religion will not remain the same. Society, in brief, is a changing phenomenon, growth, decaying, renewing and accommodating itself to changing conditions and suffering vast modification in the course of time. So one of the result of changes in family and marriage is globalization and modernization. The objective of the study is to find out the changing life style of the professionals with regard to family and marriage. The software personnel from Kerala who are married and in between the age group of 20–35 working in Bangaluru formed the population of the study. 150 male and 150 female respondents were selected using stratified random sampling, which formed the sample of the study. Most of the software professionals prefer to live in nuclear family. The software professionals claim that the status of the family has changed with their entry in to software profession. They prefer their partner to be from the same economic background, have a good physical personality, be intellectually competent, have a higher salary and with modern outlook.
