The effectof social networking sitesonstudents ’academicperformance

Social media in Oman continues to grow in popularity especially in the academic sectors. This is manifested that technology is a vital part in today‟s student learning strategies. Using the networking sites has a strong effect on affecting the students‟ academic performance. This study aims to examine the effect of social networking sites on the college students of Shinas College of technology, Oman. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to the 200 students of ShCT studying in Engineering, Information Technology and Business departments. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. The result of the survey questionnaire indicates that using networking sites has a positive effect on the academic performance of the students.
