Abstract

The CPSEs (Central Public Sector Enterprises) play a vital role in the public policy implementation of the government along with providing other benefits. The present paper aims to study the trends prevailing in the concerned sector on the basis of certain financial indicators like capital employed, total revenue, profits earned, losses incurred and net worth, etc. during the period of ten years (2006–07 to 2015–16) with the help of data collected through secondary sources. The collected data was analyzed with the help of various statistical tools and techniques. It was established through the study of financial indicators that there had been a significant surge in capital employed, net worth, gross turnover and net income of the CPSEs during the period under study and surprisingly more growth (in number of units and rate of loss) was observed among loss making units in comparison to the profit making ones which is an apparent cause of non-performance or low performance of CPSEs.
