HIV/AIDS Counsellors in Kerala report higher levels of burnout and a few studies conducted on the determinants of burnout among them.
A cross-sectional survey conducted among the counsellors by Copenhagen burnout inventory. A Google form was created to collect the responses from the counsellors. Questions related to socio-demographic data added in the first part, and the second part consists of the burnout inventory. 96 respondents included and 52 were males, and 44 were females.
39.58% of the respondents reported burnout and female counsellors reported higher burnout levels than male. Age and burn out shows a positive correlation and both the income and experience show a negative correlation inburnout. Marital statuses of the respondents do not show statistical significance.
Burnout is prevalent among the HIV/AIDS counsellors Kerala. Authorities should design and implement appropriate burnout management strategies exclusively for these counsellors to assure quality in their service delivery.
