Sharing of information among student’s community is an important avenue. Social networks play a significant role in sharing of information rapidly. In this exploratory study, different types of college students were interviewed to assess the impact of use of smart phone, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Whatsapp. The general awareness in use of software and installation is also surveyed. Security measures in system usage and mail usage are also examined. The worth of user-generated informationdiffersconsiderably from tremendous to abuse and spam. As the availability of such informationraises, the target of identifying highquality information in sites based on user contributions-social media sites-becomes even more significant.
