Rural infrastructure and agricultural out put a District-Level analysis of Uttar Pradesh

The present study develops a composite index of rural infrastructure for 46 districts of Uttar Pradesh for 1972–2011. It also estimates district-level agricultural output by taking 16 major agricultural commodities at constant price of 2010–11. The time series regression results bring forth a positive relationship between agricultural productivity and rural infrastructure across districts of Uttar Pradesh. The positive impact of rural infrastructure seems stronger among poor districts.
