GST-Goods and Service Tax Act has changed the indirect tax regime of India. It has been stated to be the biggest tax reform since independence. The main ingredient for the successful implementation and functionality of this new law requires both online returns filing and online tax payment which warrants every business to use computerized accounting system. India has been the home for traditional businesses which follow the traditional approach of doing business and rely on manual methods of accounting. The introduction of GST has led such businesses to upgrade themselves from the manual system to computerized system. However, even after the upgradation many challenges are still lined up for such businesses. This paper studies the immediate impact of GST on such traditional businesses. It also studies various relaxations introduced by the GST council to help in transformation of traditional businesses. This paper is based on exploratory research technique and data and information cited in this paper were collected from secondary sources.
