Abstract

The premises of this paper deals with the importance of Revision of clause 49 on the Corporate Governance Disclosure Index of the selected companies. The present article compares the Corporate Governance Disclosure Index of pre and Post revision of Clause 49. Clause 49 came into existence on January 2006. However it has been revised from time to time in order to comply with the Companies Act 2013. This study seeks to examine the difference in the CGDI when pre and post revision of clause 49 has been compared to each other. This is the basic objective of this paper. In order to achieve the above objective Paired Sample t test has been used. Increased Voluntary disclosure has led to strengthen the goodwill of the organisation besides providing more access to global market and ensure faith of the investors. It identifies significant difference in the Corporate Governance disclosure index. This paper however concludes that there is significant difference in the CGDI of 4 out of 5 selected Telecommunication companies under the study. Few suggestions have also been offered in context of the results identified in this paper which would be helpful to the policy makers to formulate better Corporate Governance Mechanisms.
