In the list of journals of science and its allied areas two journals ‘Science'and ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS)'always occupy their place among top publications. It is commonly said that no bibliography of a research in the field of sciences could be completed without listing the name of any of these two journals. Keeping it in mind, the present study has been undertaken. The purpose of the study is to find out the impact of published information items of these journals on IIT Mandi publications since inception. Since, the process of analyzing the data was more manual and less automatic, while analyzing, the type of information items have not been identified. The study has been undertaken by analyzing the references of the papers from IIT Mandi during 2010(1^st paper of IITMandi)-2018 Web of Science-Citation database has been used as an information aggregator for the required information material during this study. During the above said period, IIT Mandi has published 1287 papers. By analyzing the references of all these papers, it has been found that 286 papers cited at least one information item either from Science or PNAs journal and total 452 articles have been cited for 616 times.
