Abstract

An analysis of the agro-ecosystem of Indianand zone revealed that Cucumis callosus Cogn, a common weed growing abundantly in cultivated fields, has a depressive influence on two rain-fed crops, bajra (Pennisetum typhoideum Rich.) and til (Sesamum indtcum Linn). The crop yield was reduced by 69.0 and 14.7 percent in bajra and til, respectively, where this weed was buried before the crop seeds were sown. When the crops were grown in association of this weed, a decrease in yield of 45.0 percent in bajra and 62.1 percent in til was noted
